Finally!

So, it's been awhile since I've posted. Lots of fun stuff has been going on out here in yee-haw land...although I'm still super busy all the damn time. I'm really envious of those of you who aren't working a 9-5.

You know who you are...all of you in grad school or those of you who decided to stay in the academia bubble. Oh yeah, and don't forget those of you who managed to marry a guy who is supporting your lifestyle of laying out by the pool and sipping cosmos. Cheers, fo sho.

Anyways, I've blogged about my affiliate marketing past-time quite a bit and I thought I'd update you guys because I'm FINALLY in the black with my campaigns. And what kind of traffic is it?

Facebook.

Currently, I've got ONE ad campaign that is bringing me a solid 140-150% roi. I'm averaging around 20 dollars a day in adspend and bringing in up to $30+ in revenue.

Not too bad, huh?

Now that's nothing compared to The Cakes or any of the other big time affiates who are doing high six figures a month PROFIT. However, every journey starts with a small step, right? So I plan on scaling this campaign out hardcore before I test out other markets. If any of you are interested in aff marketing, hit me up on aim and I can point you to some stuff that has definitely helped me out. Also, if enough of you are interested, I'll do a longer post in the future.

Lazy Weekend And Some Blogs to Check Out

Lazy weekend. That's ok, right? It's a holiday.

Great post about how to make your first few dollars online. Anybody interested in making a few extra bucks and doesn't know where to start should definitely check out these resources. I made a couple hundred bucks on Elance earlier this year for about 3 hours worth of work. Not bad, huh?

Labor day weekend has hit me like a ton of bricks. Drinks, pool, no headway on my campaigns or world domination. Been reading a lot of blogs, too.

Monty's Mega Marketing
is one of my new favorites. His, "stop reading and start making money" taglines really hit home. There's only so much reading you can do before you've gotta start testing some shit! I only made chickenfeed with my Facebook campaigns last month, but I learned what DOESN'T work. And I did get a ROI (albeit a very small one.

Court Tuttle
is another good one. Very skilled White Hat SEO that has a program called Keyword Sniper that I've been wanting to check out. Price point is pretty steep though, at $1000. I don't know...I'll think about it...

Regardless, I hope your weekend went well. I leave you with this video of Charles Manson.

Elizabeth: jared is such a sweetie

John: isn't he though?

John: kind of like me

John: ha

Elizabeth: lol, not so much

Elizabeth: you're sweet in the "im going to slip you a roofy" kinda way!

Black Hat Resources

So I've been reviewing my options over and over and trying to decide what way to best break into the IM industry. PPC-Coach has been pretty much dead in the water for me, as I only have so many hours in my non-"day job" days to spend on stuff. There's a lot of trial and error involved with PPC and I simply don't have the budget to fail to many times.

So, I asked the guys at Wickedfire on this thread and Smaxor gave me some hella good advice. Here's what he said:

Suppose it depends on what drives you man. When i started I liked beating the system and making money doing it. Out ranking CountryWide and Bank of America for the keyword "refinance" made me feel accomplishment. Really doesn't do much for me now as I know I can do it and it's a lot of work. From a purely technical stand point I'd say if you have money learn PPC. If you don't learn seo blackhat or whatever. This kind of sums it up:

You can make a lot of money with blackhat seo but honestly to do it right you need to learn to code.
You can make a lot of money with SEO but you need a lot of time.
You can make a lot of money with PPC but you need a lot of cash.

Pick one then focus on one portion of one. Like if you pick ppc choose 1 part of 1 place to advertise such as google content or search. Pick a niche you hear a lot about because you know this works. Then start your trial and error aka learning. After 1 months of hard core trial and error start reading blogs and forums. Then back to trial and error with your new knowledge.

So I'm really reconsidering my strategy. Black hat may be the way to go for now. Once I get things rolling, then I'll be able to start automating and outsourcing tasks to our friends overseas.

Here's some link love to Smaxor's ad network Ads4dough

Anyhoo, I'll be checking out these two resources for my blackhat training:

Blackhat Digest

And

Bompa's BlackHatBootCamp

So anyway, that's the update on my "make monies online" quest. I'll keep you all updated as things go forward.

Rescuetime

I just signed up with this web application called rescuetime, it's an analytics software that helps you manage your time and keep track of what you do with it. Since I'm an organizational disaster, I figured this was a great resource for me.

How long do I spend a day on TheDirty.com? (my new favorite gossip site, thanks Liz)

Rescuetime will tell me.

How much time does it take me to do the laundry every week?

Rescuetime will tell me.

This will come in handy when I'm trying to navigate through all of the information online. The question is, how long is it going to take me to learn:

a) how to build a link farm
b) PPC marketing
c)how to get my websites ranking

Anyways, things have been pretty monotonous lately, but I'm working on that. More updates as things roll forward.

And here's your video for today. Enjoy!
